In 2017 we created the STEP youth enrichment program at the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center. STEP was an innovative collaboration between us and the Springfield Area Parent Child Center (SAPCC) to bring enriching opportunities to youth and their families in our service area on weekends and evenings.
A variety of family-friendly activities for children and their families took place throughout 2018 and into 2019. Our goal was to promote quality family time beyond the boundaries of home, without having to travel to other parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusets.
STEP sought proposals from individuals and community organizations interested in facilitating a specific class (4 or more sessions) or one-time workshops. Individuals that had a program they wanted to develop or an area of interest or expertise in a particular topic or hobby were invited to submit proposals for consideration. All accepted programs and activities were published in a community brochure.
