Oney Family Takes Gold in Family 100 Freestyle Relay
Jeff, Nikki, Hank, Louisa Oney took home the gold medal in yesterday's opening event at the SVHRC Olympics. The Oney's representing the town of Reading completed the 100 yard event in a time of 1:07.40. The Whalen family, Patrick, Noah, Arianna, and Hannah brought home the silver medal with a time of 1:10.24; the Whalen's were representing the town of Charlestown, NH. The bronze medal went to the Verespy's representing Chester, VT. Shane, Molly, Judy, and Connor Verespy finished with a time of 1:15.64.
The Southern Vermont Health and Recreation Center is hosting the first ever SVHRC Swim Olympics - a week-long swim competition for youth and adults in honor of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games. Area residents are invited to participate by signing up to compete in any or all of the six events. All events will take place in the SVHRC’s competition size lap pool during the week of August 10-16, 2008. The kickoff event - a Family 100-yard Freestyle Fun Relay - is on Sunday, August 10 at 1 p.m. Gather a group of your family members to form a four person team and come help us kick off the week of competition.
