Free event for children ages 5-12.

The kids-only 100 and 200-yard races will take place at high Noon during the 37th Annual Vermont Apple Festival and Craft Fair at Riverside Park on Saturday, October 12th. The Fastest Kid in Town Race began seven years ago as a joint effort between Springfield Medical Care Systems and the Edgar May Health and Recreation Center to raise awareness on the importance of fitness and activity for young children. The race has become a popular annual event that is free and open to children ages 5-12.

Nearly 100 children compete for the title of Fastest Kid in Town in their age category. Medals for the male and female winners of each category (five- and six-year-olds, seven- and eight-year-olds, nine- and ten-year-olds, and eleven- and twelve-year-olds) will be awarded. All participants* will receive a race logo t-shirt for their efforts.

Pre-registration is recommended, but not required, by contacting member services or downloading the form here.

**Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a t-shirt in their specified size.
